MacBook Pro Issue
So i’ve been talking with apple for a month now about my macbook pro. my model is a mid-2010 15” in near mint condition.. well, it was before a month ago when i opened the screen to find the trackpad raised above its casing. Knowing a decent amount about these i figured it was related to the battery and in result made an appointment with my local apple store who told me it was definitely the battery expanding and warned me that it’s dangerous. I was advised to keep it off, unplugged, and away in a cool place to avoid any issues (including catching fire and/or exploding). i listened and made a follow-up appointment to have a full disassemble and diagnostic done. i wasn’t able to make it to that appointment around a week ago due to the flu, since then the track pad has risen more and now cracked. we’ve been speaking with apple to figure out what can be done and have gotten mixed answers along with a very disgruntled and disrespectful stay-at-home customer service rep who told us to just “throw it out” and “buy a new macbook” even though the mac works perfectly fine besides the trackpad and battery issue.
the end result has been something around: the fact that it’s a 2010 makes it so that they won’t repair it and they consider this our problem. the last rep we spoke to said he will do his best to find a place to repair it and will get back to us when he has a good amount of info. i understand if it’s too old and that they may not have the parts for it at my local apple store, but how can a battery defect like this be something they wouldn’t at least replace the battery for? we are extremely loyal apple customers with having owned over 10 apple products over the years we’ve always loved the quality of each device.
i’m not sure if anyone else has had an issue like this, but i hope they were able to get it resolved with less stress.
