Sister’s iPhone Cloned? Help!
Bit peculiar, but here we are. My sister burst into tears to me because her ex-boyfriend aggressively confronted her about ‘moving on too quickly’ . Ironic, seeing as he cheated on her and that’s why they broke up…
Anyway, he messaged her to come over to his after 2 months apart… only this is the exact same evening that my sister is asked out for dinner by one of her colleagues.
Instead of going for dinner with the colleague, she stupidly visits him again… low and behold it turns out that he has been paying somebody on the internet £50 a day to clone her phone. He showed her photos of her actual FaceTime conversations, whatsapp convos, camera roll photos, standard texts. He even claimed to know where she was whenever he desired. Absolute scumbag.
Some more context;
1) The phone she is using was gifted to her by the ex.
2) The ex had regular access to her phone
3) A few weeks back she had the Apple notification stating that somebody from New York was trying to access her iCloud (we’re in London and have very unique email addresses…)
Is iPhone cloning/hacking a thing?
How do we ensure complete security now?
She’s majorly upset and feels like she has no privacy, understandably. Whilst I’d like to take the law into my own hands (believe me, it would be incredible to dish out some justice to him), I imagine there are perhaps better ways to resolve this.
Any advice / similar experiences shared would be mega helpful.
