7 months later since the launch of the iPhone X and still no sign of OLED burn-in.
I really have to give Apple credit. They did an amazing job with the OLED implementation on the iPhone X. I have the screen on a lot so there’s a lot of instances where there are static UI elements onscreen.
Including one really weird experience where I accidentally fell asleep with my phone, I think Face ID kept scanning my face thinking I was looking at the iPhone and the screen stayed on the entire night! Even after that, still no burn-in!
Whatever hardware techniques Apple employ through iOS to prevent burn-in is clearly working and Apple should be commended for that. This also further buttresses their philosophy about not being first to release new tech but making it best.
