How did the iPhone go from the most “pleasurable” mobile phone technology to a “slow” painful dud of a device? Flair: RANT
I have drank the cool-aid, almost since day one, buying an Apple IIci for almost $5,000. That didn’t include the Apple boob tube monitor for another $699. That was 1988 I think.
To the title, the iPhone original was a godsend of a device, years ahead of the face-hair pulling Motorola Razor (literally) and I claimed the time that the iPhone (soon after updates, iPhone 2, etc) the “Most pleasurable” mobile technology… peeps giggled. We’re talking UX, and the way it was just simple. NOT talking the “vibrate” mode when calls come in, grandma.
Now, sitting with iPhone 6 plus (EDIT: Its a 6+, Model MGAU2LL/A iPhone 6 Plus), its’ just a clunker of a device and extremely painful to use. Sure, they slowed it because of software would overhead the device (wait, did the iPhone team develop that software, well, just cut me off a branch when it was fast, like 2 years ago, and I’ll be happy with that build). Why on earth would you take a great performing “device/engine/producing element” and continue to throw crap at it until it slowed down and became useless?
No, I don’t need dancing emoji’s or singing furrys or any of that. I still need phone calls, but yeah, I too love many apps, tools, Geo targeting destinations, real time traffic, find my damn iphone, digital talking assistant, etc etc etc … up to a point. We need a “features/benefits/cost” table so I can just buy the iPhone that works for my needs.
I have turned off most app background updates, all the good stuff they say to do online, updated the OS, etc etc. The only thing I need this fall is a new battery. My charges will do another 65 cycles or so and it’s time for a new battery.
I don’t expect the iPhone 6 plus (EDIT: Its a 6+, Model MGAU2LL/A iPhone 6 Plus) to become a super fast awesome iPhone again with a new battery. Still need to wait 4 seconds OR MORE for an app to open, (including text message and just the phone app). Nope. Not gonna happen. Why is that exactly? I am going to put solid blame on corporate profits. That’s it. Why else do we need to continue to make something that was pretty darn good, just get worse with more and more complexity in the apps and features (requiring more processing power)…
I just want to purchase a product that will only get required security updates to protect my data and not continue making bloatware apps that just wanna track every aspect of my life.
Is that asking tooooooo much?
