Looking at replacing laptop with iPad… still possible to efficiently edit photos from DSLR camera in Lightroom?
I have a 5-year-old MacBook Air that I’ve used and abused throughout college and grad school. The battery is slowly starting to kick the bucket. I’m thinking about trading it in in the next year or so either for a new laptop or new iPad. However, my new job will provide me with an Apple laptop for work. So I’m leaning towards the iPad for personal use. I know I can do everything I want on it except I’m not 100% sure about if photography will still be doable. (If it’s not, it’s enough of a priority that I’d get a new laptop.) My camera is a Canon 6D, so I know it has wifi, and somehow I think I’ll be able to figure out how to get the photos onto the iPad. I only edit in Lightroom, so I’m wondering if it’s possible to effectively use Lightroom mobile as a standalone editor and NOT as a companion to a desktop Lightroom application? Anyone have experience with this?
Pros of the iPad for me are price, portability, and the artistic possibilities of the Apple Pencil.
Thanks in advance!
