In Safari, reddit.com pseudo-refreshes (all collapsed comments expand, but page itself doesn’t reload) after going Back (iOS 11.3.1, iPad Pro 10.5)
I’ve been having an extremely aggravating issue ever since I upgraded my old iPad Pro 9.7″ to a 10.5″ model on iOS 11. I prefer reading Reddit in Safari instead of apps, because my browsing style often involves opening several things in new background tabs before I get to them.
As I read comments, I often collapse them by tapping the [-] symbol to get them out of the way. If I follow a link on that page, I used to be able to swipe back and not only would the scroll position be remembered, but the collapsed/expanded status of each comment is also remembered. Indeed, this is how it still works in Safari on my MacBook Pro, as well as on my old iPad Pro 9.7″ (which is on iOS 9.3.3).
But on my 10.5″ on iOS 11.3.1, after swiping back, it flashes the correct layout, but then instantly all the comments that I have collapsed expand, and so the scroll position is in the wrong position and I have no idea where I am!
Bizarrely, if I logout of my reddit account, it behaves correctly…
I’ve tried wiping and reinstalling, clearing my history on my iPad as well as my MBP, and tweaking several Safari settings, all to no avail. The only things that works is logging out of my reddit account, but that sucks.
For what it’s worth I am using the old reddit.com interface, pre-refresh.
Anyone else having this issue or have any ideas how to fix it?
