Affinity Designer for iPad is AMAZING
First off, I’m not a professional illustrator. I run an online business, and as part of it I need some vector drawings for books + web publishing.
I used to do this on computer. I’d sketch out the drawings on paper, an illustrator would digitize them in Adobe Illustrator, and then I’d make small tweaks with Adobe Illustrator before publishing.
I didn’t love the process, but I didn’t want to make the drawings on Illustrator myself. Even though they’re simple line and letter drawings, it would have taken me a while.
Doing a new book, and since Affinity Designer came out, I decided to try making the drawings myself on an ipad, where I’m doing my writing. Wow, is this program good! I don’t have design experience, but I was able to quickly figure it out, and do everything I could do with Adobe Illustrator on a computer.
Except faster. Something about the pencil and touch interface made it *extremely* quick to get everything done. Zooming, moving through the canvas, selecting, dragging objects, it’s all super fast.
And the export options were great. I was able to select all my drawings as slices, and easily export them to my ipad and into Dropbox.
Extremely impressed with Affinity. Designer is going to speed up my production cycle and also save me a bunch of money.
