Why does USB Audio pause in my car when I connect my phone to Bluetooth?
I just bought a 2014 Subaru WRX. It has both USB audio in, and Bluetooth connectivity. Each has its pros and cons.
USB audio is definitely clearer than Bluetooth audio. I notice this particularly in the highs (things like cymbals and sibilants), and in the lows (Bluetooth’s lows sound noticeably muddier).
However, USB audio in my car *only* outputs audio. I can’t use my car to make phone calls, I can’t relay any voice commands.
I can do those things if I use Bluetooth audio.
However, if I want the best of both worlds – to output audio via USB while still having my phone connected to Bluetooth – my phone will pause the music track. If I press play, it will play for a fraction of a second, and then pause again. If I switch to Bluetooth as my audio source, it will play the tracks.
I wonder whether this is a phone thing, or a car thing. Any thoughts/suggestions? If I’m posting in the wrong sub, can somebody point me in the right direction?
