In light of the recent news of certain apps “constantly“ phoning home, Apple must allow users outside of China to block apps from being able to access the Internet entirely
So many apps phone home all the time without our knowledge or permission, sending a trove of valuable user data for companies to sell.
My suggestion is for Apple to allow those of us who live outside of China to be given the same amount of network control over apps as the Chinese. As of right now, we can only disallow access while connected to 3G and 4G.
In China, iOS has an extra option called “Apps using WLAN & Cellular” in the WiFi section. There, you have granular control over apps’ network connections; you can see if apps are accessing data on WiFI or Cellular. If you don’t want that app to access data, there is an “Off” option and the app can’t access data on cellular ~or~ WiFi.
