For those of you that work at a carrier store, what machine do you use to transfer peoples’ stuff from their old iPhone to their new one, and why does it never work correctly?
I’m helping a friend that just got his XS from a carrier store. While at the store, the sales associate hooked up my friend’s old iPhone 7 to some machine that moved his contacts and photos over to the XS.
Well, as expected, the machine fucked everything up and now his photos are ruined. He didn’t realize this until after he got home and they had already traded in his iPhone 7.
What is this machine? Why does it never work? Why do carrier stores not just tell the customer to move everything over via their iCloud accounts, since carrier stores are too stupid to understand how things are supposed to work?
**Edit:** Holy shit, for a subreddit that gushes praise on Apple’s customer service, no one in these comments would be hired by them.
