Edge-to-edge, notchless screen protectors look amazing, but damn these companies suck. (Rant inside)
I know screen protectors are super cheap, but I’m ticked off. Let me preface this by saying that I bought a notched screen protector for my launch day Xs that came with a plastic guide to ensure proper placement and installation was perfect and took less than 5 minutes, so I know I’m not just screwing up the installation with my own stupidity.
Anyway, I bought a notchless glass screen protector from Tethys on Amazon, because it looked amazing in the pictures. And now that I have one on my phone right now, they look amazing in real life too. But the plastic guide that came with my kit was apparently defective because it was too small for the screen protector to correctly fit into it and adhere to the phone; I had to bend the protector slightly so that it would fit through. This resulted in every attempt at installation being crooked. There were three protectors in the kit: one had a defect in the glass, one scratched when I took it off to reapply, and the last one is currently on my phone, after a painstaking hour of trying to install it. And no, I didn’t manage to get all the dust out. I decided to contact Tethys to see if I could get a replacement kit because it’s ridiculous that 1/3 of my protectors was defective and the plastic guide didn’t even work, not to mention the dust underneath the protector that I can’t get rid of because I had to attempt installing it several times without the useless guide..
I reached out to the company the same day I installed the screen protector, about mid-October. It took days for my first response. I was polite and explained what happened, and asked only for a replacement kit. They offered a refund instead, which I accepted so I could buy another kit. They asked to allow 7-11 days for a refund. It’s been 3 weeks and still nothing.
I tried leaving a review on Amazon. My negative review was mysteriously rejected, and any further attempts give me an error saying that they cannot accept reviews for this product because of “suspicious reviewing activity.” None of my other reviews on Amazon have ever been rejected for something like that.
Thanks but no thanks, Tethys. If you’re looking for a full-screen protector, go buy something else. My Maxboost was hideously ugly but at least it wasn’t defective.
