MBA 2017 loose trackpad – hesitant to turn it in
I purchased brand new MBA 2017 about two months ago from an authorized reseller here where I live. Now I notice that the trackpad is sort of loose. It works fine but it’s not as tight as supposed to be. There seems to be a tiny backlash so you can actually hear as you touch it. As I said it works fine but this thing is starting to get very annoying.
There is no Apple Store here unfortunately. I’m hesitant with getting it fixed at authorized reseller under warranty coverage since I do not believe they’re using the original parts. I already had a bad experience with them couple of years ago. I had a water damage in my MBP (an older nrMPB 2012) and had to replace the top case. After bringing it back home I noticed that the trackpad was FUBB. It was positioned the wrong way so that it would stick out over the top case rather than being a bit pressed in under the surface as it should be. I took it back to the lab and the technician told me there’s nothing could be done and that was the only way to fix it. I suspect they just used the top case that wasn’t original and for that reason the trackpad wouldn’t match since then. Impossible to prove though.
So for now I am not sure if I should turn it in and risk facing them screw up something else again however keep the warranty. There’s an option to have it fixed at someone I can trust but most probably losing warranty this way.
What do you guys suggest?
