I love my iPhone, but…
It drives me nuts that Apple forces me to connect to WiFi to restore my iCloud backup, download large apps, etc.
I believe this is to lower the amount of data we use. Apple probably has some agreement with carriers to do this, but it drives me nuts. I’m a truck driver and a quality WiFi network is not often easy to find. If I connect to the hotspot on my other drivers iPhone, it’s always crushingly slow regardless of the speeds their phone is getting (which I think is a limitation of tethering iPhone to iPhone, but I could be wrong).
So I’m stuck using truck stop WiFi, which ranges for barely useable to absolutely dreadful. It can literally take days for me to install all of my apps after an upgrade or reset, whereas it would be done in a couple of hours if it would just use cellular data.
Apple… why you do dis?
