The iPad typing cursor when switching apps or going into split screen is a buggy mess.
So I’m trying to subscribe to the idea that I can use an iPad for more computer-like things, but I keep getting turned away from this idea due to how badly iOS handles things when you start using apps in a more complex manner.
I’ve noticed lately that if I begin to type in a text field of an app then take the app into split-screen mode, or even alt-tab into another one (I’m using a bluetooth keyboard), the cursor and context menus i.e. the cut/copy/paste menus will often fail to appear again for that text box. Sometimes it may re-appear if you tap into another box, but it won’t show up for the original box.
The functionality aside from the cut/copy/paste menus is still there, and keyboard shortcuts work, but you’re doing this entirely blind which is unacceptable.
How can Apple possible tout this OS as something that can replace a laptop when it can’t even nail down the basic typing UI?
