Best text to speech apps that will read what the user types?
My brother just had part of his tongue removed because of oral cancer. While he’s recovering, I thought it would be useful for him to be able to type into an iPad and have an app read his text. I’m going to visit him in a couple of days so I wanted to have some options ready to show to him.
What I’ve found so far is that Siri has the most natural voice. But the interface doesn’t seem ideal for conversing. I think the best way would be for him to be able to type what he wants read, press enter, and have the iPad read it. While he’s moving on to type his next thought. I can’t find a way to make Siri read in such a straight-forward manner.
The dedicated text-to-speech apps I’ve seen have a much smoother interface, but the voices sound more mechanical.
Has anyone had experience with this? Or know of a speaking impaired subreddit for me to crosspost?
