How does the iPad know a mic is plugged in the 3.5 mm jack? How to use mic in 3.5 mm port while using HDMI out? More details below…
So I play mobile games and stream them online through my computer. I use hdmi out of the device into my computer which encodes the stream.
The problem with this method is that many games are cooperative and use a form of in game voice chat so this requires a mic input to be able to participate.
Because I was using hdmi out I didn’t think you could use mic in at the same time UNTIL I came across another streamer doing just that.
I talked to him about it, and he built his own custom mic cable the allows this to be possible. He gave me a general idea what the cable does but won’t give me specifics.
What I do know he put a resistor on one of the audio channels to get the iPad to recognize a mic is plugged in.
Do any of you all have an idea how this works?
