Meet WriteMapper 2, my Mac and iPad app that turns your ideas into text documents using mind maps
For the past few months, I’ve been working hard through and during the holiday season to unveil in 2019: WriteMapper 2! WriteMapper is the app that helps you turn your ideas into text documents using mind maps, taking your writing productivity to the next level.
You can download the trial or watch the introduction video on the website: https://writemapper.com
The app was made to help you:
– Relentlessly generate ideas using mind maps
– Overcome writer’s block by breaking tasks down
– Beat procrastination to skyrocket writing productivity
– Export your final draft to compatible file formats
– And all from a beautifully-designed interface
WriteMapper is a writing-focused mind mapping app, where each node on the mind map can be expanded into a distraction-free editor. This allows you to fill in text content for that particular node. Contents can be styled and marked up, like making words bold, using lists and even inserting code blocks (much like reddit’s text editor, actually).
From there, you can bounce between writing and using the visual nature of the mind map to take stock of the structure of your work, and make any additions or changes to it as you go along. The writing workflow quickly becomes:
1. Outline in a mind map
2. Write little bits of stuff
3. Get done!
When you’re all finished, the app also has a function that will let you export the entire mind map (and each node’s contents) into a text document. Various popular file formats are supported, including:
– Markdown (.md)
– Microsoft Word (.docx)
– Rich Text Format (.rtf)
– Plain Text (.txt)
– HTML (.html)
New in WriteMapper 2 are three new major features: File Import, Full Document Preview, and Custom Keyboard Shortcuts, among many other improvements. Although each of these was a major undertaking to implement, I’m very glad to be able to offer existing customers a free upgrade to WriteMapper 2.
The app has gotten some amazingly positive feedback on [Product Hunt](https://www.producthunt.com/posts/writemapper-2), on top of being mentioned on [Cult of Mac](https://www.cultofmac.com/598926/tidur-iina-focos-and-other-unpronounceable-apps-of-the-week/), so I thought to share this with you guys too.
I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback about WriteMapper, and answering any questions you might have. Thanks!
