WordPress Developer – Can I realistically replace my MBP with iPad Pro as secondary / traveling device?
I’ve done some research but haven’t been able to find much info from people who code on their iPad Pro. I’m a bit disconnected from iPad as a whole – I have the original model and haven’t followed any updates until the Pro caught my eye.
As mentioned I’m a WordPress Developer. I have a 2017 27″ as my main machine but looking to replace my 2009 MBP secondary machine that I use around the house or when traveling. It’s becoming notoriously sluggish and just weighs a ton to pack and carry around all day.
I wouldn’t necessarily be putting in long coding sessions on the iPad but would need to be able to take care of client work or comfortably work in the WordPress dashboard if needed. It will pretty much be used for client maintenance / requests when I’m away from my main workstation – typically all done in browser.
I would need a basic code editor & ftp app for my primary work flow.
Other usages would be using in meetings for presentations / demos / note taking, email, writing/blogging, web-based marketing tasks, general browsing / research / video.
Can I realistically do this and still be productive? Will the added time to perform simple tasks cancel out the cost difference in getting a newer MBP or even a beefed up Air?
