Safari Technology Preview 75 (appears to) fix many major age-old problems handling many popular websites
Disclaimer: Based **entirely** on assumption and a few days of casual browsing.
In short, for almost a year safari and the tech preview had major issues with YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, and many other websites such as very high, sustained CPU usage (e.g. 100%+ usage from a single youtube tab) with an eventual warning about the webpage performance/auto-reload. Additionally frequent erratic and inconsistent intra- and inter-webpage navigation like long hanging, immediate purge of the last webpage forcing a reload when going back, and general strain from everything. As of update 75 and some very superficial “testing” I’m no longer having any problems with any webpages I was before. Youtube is sitting at a cool 12% and ***even REDDIT is now scrolling smoothly everywhere!!!!!!!***
So far all I can say is ***FUCKING FINALLY***
# Important Note:
Mac is a 2018 13″ Core i7 tbMBP which makes me even less sure of the level of “fixed” these issues actually are or what actually caused the improvement, but with no other change other than the update I’m getting astronomically better performance across Safari and webpages.
