Teaching paper free on my iPP since 2015!
I have used my iPP 12.9” and Apple Pencil to assist my teaching for 3 years now. I have been teaching for nearly 2 decades and once I bought my first iPP on launch day 2015, I have found it has totally transformed the way I teach, plan and assess my students. I teach young children (Elementary/Primary school) full time and my teaching day would not go as well without it.
I use the NotesPlus app as my day-to-day diary planner and I screenshot programs I develop using Word etc and add to notebooks. I also do all of my student assessments on my iPP, I just photograph an assessment task and add it to a NotesPlus notebook. I then sit with one of my students and my iPP and mark off their responses using my Apple Pencil. If the assessment needs to be seen by others (eg student’s parents or a teaching colleague) I can just print.
I also use safari, YouTube and many educational apps as needed by attaching my iPP to a screen (smartboard) for my students and I to access together. I have created many notebooks and folders that contain individual student info and asssesment and programs. I keep all the notebooks and folders from each teaching year and can access them again whenever I need. I have everything on NotesPlus saved on Dropbox and have easily transferred everything over when I have upgraded my iPad.
I take my iPP to meetings or training courses and take notes as required. I rarely scan documents as I prefer taking a photo and adding it to the NotesPlus app folder/notebook but I do occasionally scan documents that I access in many different formats using a variety of apps like the suite from Adobe.
I am heavily invested in Apple products and the iPP with Apple Pencil is my most-used, all-time favourite device.
