Apple should have Apple Care as a flat monthly fee that covers all of your devices.
Rather than have it at time of purchase Apple should offer Apple Care as a monthly $10 charge or whatever for your devices. If you have apple care monthly at the time of purchase of a new Apple device your device is covered So if you get Apple Care Monthly with your new iphone and you are continuously paying it and then buy a Mac or an iPad it also will be covered.Chuck in some free app downloads each month like Xbox Gold and you have a compelling product that will have people sign up to basically insure their devices. It will dramatically increase use of Apple Care and pay for itself in this way.
I have a Mac an iPad, iphone and a now broken Apple Watch. If Apple had this I would subscribe in a heartbeat.
edit: because people don’t seem to understand the concept:
>No way they would lose money. It’s basically an insurance model. Insurance companies rarely lose money.
>In my 10+ years of owning Apple gear I’ve damaged one thing (my watch). If I had been paying it for 10 years they’ve made an extra $1200 out of me for one thing being damaged in that time.
>You could also limit the repairs so the maths works out, say 1 repair per device every 12 months or so but who damages their phone or watch that often anyway?
Even if they broke even out of it it certainly is another USP for the Apple ecosystem.
