iTunes Vouchers: Making Apple TV+ worth the cost
Apple TV+ was debuted yesterday, with a star-studded cast and the announcement of several Apple Originals. All the Originals look incredibly professional and well-done, and they each have a unique story that hasn’t been told before.
However, Originals alone are not worth the assumed price: $10/month. What could Apple do with Apple TV+ to make it worth it? Here is my idea:
* Include an iTunes “voucher” with each month. You would be able to redeem the voucher for 15 hours of content each month. This behaves similarly to Audible, and how it gives you one download per month.
* The 15 hours could be used in one 15-episode season of hour-long episodes, or it could be divided into six 2-hour movies plus a few episodes of a series–or however you want to divide it up! Once you’ve watched the content that you used the voucher for, and the month has passed, it will disappear from your library. To watch one again (outside of that month), you would either have to use next month’s voucher or rent/buy it. This would make movie and series purchases and rentals still a viable stream for revenue.
The voucher idea paired with Apple TV+ Originals seem like a good package deal to me if it’s going to be $10/month!
What are your thoughts on my voucher idea?
