Does anyone’s Battery Health show < 80% ?
I’ve just returned from an authorised repair shop that said the battery on my 1.5 year old iPhone SE won’t be repaired under warranty because the capacity is still at 82% (after 606 charge cycles).
But this does not match reality at all – in the 1 hr it took me to get to the store, the battery dropped from 100% to 23%. I used some basic apps and was playing music on my AirPods. Normally I have to charge my phone every 3-4 hours when I’m outside.
I checked with coconutBattery, I had 74% battery health in January, and 40% today. This seems to match reality better.
So my question is – does *anyone* have lower than 80% battery health in the iOS Settings -> Battery -> Battery Health? Or is Apple deliberately displaying false data?
EDIT: I just returned from the real Apple Store. The tech confirmed that the **expected range is 80-100%** so at 82% and 600+ cycles (normal: 500) the battery had run through its course. Their diagnostic showed up green for everything but yellow for battery. He immediately offered a replacement but I didn’t have Apple Care (the “warranty” was from the third party) so paid 49€ for it – no more expensive than the other store. /u/OptionalCookie ‘s response below is 100% accurate.
