Very useful trick to crop PDFs on iPad.
Yesterday I was struggling to find an app that would let me crop margins of a PDF image to incorporate it in a LaTeX document (using the excellent just discovered TexPad and Working Copy). I was in the point of buying the expansion pro features of PDF Expert but not sure if there would really be a crop tool (instructions are not very clear) or GoodReader, but some comments point out that the crop is in reality fictitious, since when exporting the cropped file it will result as the original one, with no cropping at all.
Well, I ended up “converting” that image to jpg by screenshot, been able then to crop it directly in the photos app.
But it’s not the trick I would talk about! Pixelmator is the answer: it let you pick a PDF file from Document Picker (i.e. Working Copy), crop margins as you like, and finally export the modified version as PNG or JPEG again into Working Copy.
I’m very satisfied of my setup to write technical papers for university (engineering).
