[Self-Promo Saturday] I just released a weather app called WeatherGraph with a pretty nice Today Widget and Apple Watch App/Complication. Check it out and let me know what you think (USA Only) [X-post /r/AppleWatch]
I released this app last week and I wanted to post it here to get some feedback. I basically made the weather app I always wanted. Some reasons I think it is special are:
* It uses the national weather service API, which few apps do right now. The forecasts are just a lot more accurate than other weather APIs at this point. It’s probably the same forecast data your local meteorologist uses. The only downside is that right now the app will **only show forecasts for US cities**. If the app is popular we might expand it worldwide but it depends on whether we can find an API with high quality data for other countries.
* I just really like looking at weather data as a graph rather than icons or text forecast statements. Maybe it’s because I’m a scientist but I wish more apps did this. So my friend and I wrote our own.
* One thing I didn’t like about the Apple Watch weather complications was they didn’t show enough information. A lot of them just had an icon of the current conditions outside, but to me that’s not very useful. A few of them had that plus the temperature, and that’s better but not perfect. I added the high and low today on all of my complications, and a lot of them also have the high and low tomorrow and current temperature. I also put the date the forecast model data last updated in my complications, so rather than glancing at my wrist and wondering how often this complication is updating, I can be of whether the data is up to date.
I am glad I am allowed to post this here on “Self Promo Saturday” because I’m really excited about sharing this app with the community and getting some feedback. Please let me know if you like it, or even if you don’t. All feedback is useful.
