People complaining about pricing on Mac Pro, Pro Display XDR, and the stand don’t understand the costs of the creative professional industry.
If you’re one of these persons, simply take a tour of the Red Camera website and start building your own Red Camera. A mounting plate costs $100. A side handle costs $950. A 7 inch monitor costs $2450. There is probably no way you can justify spending that amount of money on it, correct? You would argue that instead of buying a $2450 monitor, you could probably buy a whole 4K camera setup and you would be right. But not a RED or an Arri or a top tier Sony or Canon setup.
The Pro Display XDR and stand are presumably expensive because of a simple supply and demand model. It is not for average consumers. If you think that the new display and stand are expensive, I can asure you that it is not for you and the problem is that you probably can’t afford spending that much money on a display. Neither can I because my business doesn’t need it and can’t justify the investment.
Real professional photography and video equipment is very expensive. Apple is targeting that market. If the products they are offering are worthy of that market is yet to be seen.
