Does the new Mac Pro inspire optimism for the future MacBook Pro?
When I see the current Mac Pro with its design and engineering informed by future possibilities, it makes me excited to see how things will turn out for it. I know critics will bring up how the 2013 Mac Pro basically went unsupported after launch, and while true, the new Mac Pro is advantaged by its higher TDP and increased expandability. It seems Apple learned some hard lessons and are working harder to earn the trust of the professionals it once catered.
I don’t think it would too difficult to extend this lesson to the MacBook Pro. While I doubt expandability would be in the picture, something can definitely be done about the MacBook Pros TDP. By making the computer slightly thicker to accommodate more capable cooling solutions, it could also include things like: a keyboard with greater travel and durability, a larger battery, more USB Type-C ports, etc. While it seems foolish to wish for these things, I can’t help myself. The new Mac Pro, for all of its eccentricities, possesses a practicality that I hope characterizes the new MacBook Pro.
