Restrictions Passcode is Long Forgotten
TLDR: need to reset restrictions passcode but am wary to use iTunes because I do not know what exactly backups could do to my data.
So I need to reset my restrictions passcode. It was set by my dad back when I was in middle school, but now as a college student it is keeping me from doing half the things I need to do on my phone. If an email has a link, I have to copy and paste it into the Google app rather than just clicking the link and being taken to safari. This has become very annoying and so I have tried to find ways to reset it.
The first way I have learned to reset it is by using iTunes backups and factory resetting the phone a certain way that doesn’t restore the restrictions. I am hesitant to use this as I don’t want to lose things such as card information or passwords that I have saved to my keychain. I also am a huge child still and would prefer to not lose data from a game I have on my phone.
The second way I am considering attempting is using software to view my phones files and see my restrictions passcode inside of them. Decipher BackupBrowser is a tool I read about in an article that can do just this. It reads a backup and can tell you all sorts of different things. That being said, it does seem incredibly sketchy to download this from the internet and allow it to access my entire phone. Can anyone help me out and maybe school me one a few things?
Edit 1: neither me or my dad knows the code. I have had different phones but they have all had the restrictions passcode upon upload of backup.
