I can ask Siri to tell me my current elevation above sea level (which was awesome while driving through the Rockies!), but where is this data pulled from?
I assume it uses GPS location and matches that against known elevations, but I know there’s also barometers on the iPhone and Apple Watch, correct? If the data is being pulled straight from the device’s sensors, it would be cool to be able to view that data in an app, like directly in Maps or something.
Would love to be able to have an elevation complication on my Apple Watch while hiking!
edit: also wanted to add before someone else mentions it, I have the MyAltitude app as well as View Ranger and All Trails. Would be nice to have it baked into the OS rather than third party 🙂
