We talk a lot about 3D Touch on the iPhone. Let’s discuss Force Touch on the Mac
Starting in 2015, the Mac platform has adopted Force Touch technology. But the same can’t be said for developers of macOS apps. Apps made since that time just don’t incorporate Force Touch input. In fact, despite the initial rollout of Force Touch, Apple’s own system implementation is wanting. The minimum target should’ve been for Apple to bring some gesture parity across its platforms. Right now, I can’t Force Touch within Notifications Center to clear all notifications. Nor can I use the Peak and Pop features when dealing with hyperlinks in any other native Mac apps. Its other limitations notwithstanding, Safari remains this oasis of Force Touch use case.
What do you think? What were your expectations? Do you find yourself wanting to use Force Touch often as well?
