Apple’s throttling game with iPhone CPUs and GPUs
Anyone else getting annoyed when playing on their iPhone or just using an app that requires the use of the Apple’s famous high-end cores?
I currently own an iPhone X and after about 15 minutes of intense gaming (for example PUBG Mobile or F1 Mobile Racing) iOS will throttle the CPU and GPU performance to a level that often the game will become unplayable. In addition to this, the display will also dim taking away all visibility.
Now on one hand I can understand why this occurs, Apple wants to protect the processor and battery. However I don’t remember experiencing these issues in iOS 11. Apple did something with iOS 12 update that initated these issues.
I know that to some degree this kind of throttling happens on all electronic devices but I still don’t believe that this is acceptable. Essentially this restricts consumers ability to use their device to its full potential. And let’s not forget that these are +1000€ devices that are suppose to be among the most powerful on the market today.
What is the point to buy a new device of this price tag expecting to get a more powerful chipset every year when in reality the performance of the device isn’t improving much at all.
Is anyone else experiencing issues this bad? I would really appreciate your comments on this subject.
PS. I have contacted Apple through iOS beta feedback app regarding this issue but as usual I haven’t received any kind of reply.
