After having spent my whole summer coding on the weightlifting app Liftin’, I am excited to share an update with you today. I have added many new features based on your feedback, let me know what you think!
Hello r/Apple! ?
I’m the developer of the [weightlifting app Liftin’](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/liftin/id1445041669), and I’m back with a summer update!
Liftin’ has really taken off this summer, and has even been featured on the App Store around the world! I wanted to start by thanking everyone here who has been helping me with testing and feedback since the early betas, you have helped me so much getting this project off the ground! Thank you! ?
Also, I need more beta testers! As a tester you get to use the app for free with only two requirements:
+ Use the app
+ Report any bugs you might find
If you’re interested, send me your email address and I will add you to the group!
I have made lots of improvements to Liftin’ the last couple of months, here are some of the biggest features and changes:
By far the most requested feature! Plank is added as a built in timer exercise, but you can make any exercise timer-based instead of rep-based, as well as creating your your timer exercises.
The equipments system has been completely overhauled. You can now create your own custom equipments and variations to existing equipments. You can for example add barbells of different sizes, and then pick any of them as a default for different barbell-exercises.
+ **Exercise linking**
Previously when you had the same exercise in multiple routines, they all shared the same settings for weights, sets and reps. This is good for programs like Stronglifts, but in other programs you might want to have them setup differently.
Now you have the option to select which exercises you want to have linked and which you don’t.
+ **Dark Mode**
This is a feature that I can’t ship until iOS 13 is released, but I have added full support Dark Mode and I think it looks great! I have updated every color, blur effect and icon to look good with the dark interface and I’m really happy with the results. You can have a sneak peek of it [here](https://twitter.com/LiftinApp/status/1155843939678793729).
+ **Media controls for Apple Watch**
A feature for the upcoming watchOS 6 release which I wanted to include from the start, but a bug in WatchKit made it not work in the app previously. It seems to have been fixed, and the feature works great!
Supersets was in my summer backlog, but I had to push it back when other features got higher priority. Now it’s back on top and I will try to make it the first big feature this fall after the upcoming iOS 13/watchOS 6 release.
After that I have a long backlog of features, but one thing I want to focus on next is the progression system.
Currently Liftin’ can increase/decrease weights depending on your results, but I think it could do a lot more. I’m looking at programs like nSuns and GZCLP and my goal is to have full support for them in the app. It’s quite a few new concepts that needs to be added, but if it’s done right I think it can be pretty awesome!
In parallel, I will also work on including more of iOS great accessibility features, as well as localising the app to support more languages.
If you have feedback or ideas for Liftin’ I would love to hear it! You can ping me here on Reddit, on twitter [@LiftinApp](https://twitter.com/LiftinApp) or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
I’m looking forward hearing your feedback! ?
