iPhone 4S/5/5C users, what’s it like using an unsupported device?
While it’s not happening yet the writing is on the wall for the last one handed iOS device, the iPhone SE, and there doesn’t seem to be any sign of a real replacement. For those of you who are already using a device that is no longer supported what are some of the challenges you’ve had to overcome to keep using it as your main phone?
For example have you run into issues when trying to collaborate with newer iPhone users over things like iMessage or Facetime? Does Safari still work or have you begun to have compatibility issues with newer websites? Is the App Store empty if you’re more than 1 or 2 versions of iOS behind?
And finally what luck have you had in getting support from Apple for hardware issues. Obviously things like screen replacements must be scarce. How long does Apple offer battery replacements for older phones?
By requirement most Android users who can’t afford to upgrade yearly deal with unsupported devices all the time, so I’m wondering if it can be done with an iPhone too.
