What’s up with the leaks this year?
Every leak I’ve seen over the past few weeks is about the 2020 iPhone, not the iPhone 11. Everything seems to point to the 11 being another ‘tock’ iteration, rather than the ‘tick’ upgrade we typically see with number changes. This would be the first time that Apple developed 2 iterative designs instead of one revolution and one iteration.
Furthermore, almost every leak about the iPhone is regarding the 2020 iPhone. Things like a 120 Pro Motion display, a depth sensing camera, a switch to USB-C, maybe even no notch, 5G, etc, are all speculated for the 2020 iPhone.
The 2019, well, the only concrete thing I think we’ve all seen is the 3 camera setup. But nothing else (aside from the stepped up processor).
Do you think apple is slowing down the development cycle? Spreading out revolutionary designs over more time makes sense with the iPhone market almost completely saturated.
Another point, the iPhone Xs and X have identical displays and batteries. Obviously a cost saving measure, but the iPhone 5 and 5s don’t share the same display.
I think Apple is starting to move toward keeping their phones relevant longer and focusing on bigger updates with more incremental refreshes between each one. Has anyone else noticed this change?
