[QUESTION] Are replacement Macbook Screens also defective? Staingate 2.0?
About a year and a half ago I had my Macbook Pro screen replaced at an Apple Store due to the glossy coating flaking off. #Staingate. The replacement screen I received was very filthy, with a thick oil or something covering it. I asked Apple Repair why that was, but they had no answer for me. I said I wanted the screen cleaned, but they told me they could not without risking damaging it. So, I told them to replace the screen again as I would not accept the repairs. This resulted in Apple Care breaking my mother board and having to send it off to get it replaced.
After a month, I picked it up looking brand new with a new screen, but I soon discovered a bright spot in the center. Not wanting to deal with more delays and headaches, I took it and simply ignored the defect (only noticeable on bright backgrounds).
However, less than six months after my repair and my warranty running out, my screen began flaking again. I have ignored it as it remained in the corners, but now I am seeing lines appear across my screen. Apple Care simply gave me another defective screen instead of a new one. I am sick and tired of this. Has anyone else had to deal with this and know of any solutions?
