Does apple have the worst naming conventions of any current handset maker?
I’m struggling to think of someone who has less consistent naming schemes for their devices.
As far as handsets are concerned (ignoring other products) I think google has the best approach right now.
Pixel. And Pixel XL. Whats the different? The pixel XL is extra large. Its only difference is the display and a larger battery to accommodate the display. Otherwise its identical.
Another alright is samsung. Not as good as google, they have 2 different flagship product lines (galaxy and galaxy note) and each have a plus version. Plus is appropriate because they’re slightly better than the base model.
Then there’s apple….
Apple has used Plus, Max, and now pro… And there’s one device now that uses more than one of these. Oh and there’s “s” which i i know is technically a different phone but its still another qualifier.
Apple’s track record here is pretty bad in other devices too. Not naming apple watch the iwatch broke convention etc. Plus all the weirdness with the “X vs TEN”.
Can the most popular tech company in the world please stick to a standard naming convention and quit switching? What do they think this is? A macbook charging port? You don’t need a new one every year
