Reminders not syncing to iCloud on iOS 13.1.2, macOS Catalina 10.15, iCloud.com, iPadOS 13.1.2
When iOS 13 was released for iPhones, I updated my iPhone XS Max, but I did not “upgrade” Reminders, as this would break the connection to my other Apple devices.
When iPadOS 13.1 was released for iPads, I updated my iPad Air 2, but I still held off “upgrading” Reminders.
On Monday, I updated my MacBook Pro (15 inch, 2016) to macOS Catalina 10.15 and then updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS/iPadOS 13.1.2; all devices were running the most up-to-date versions of their respective operating systems.
I then put my iPad, iPhone, and Mac next to one another and pressed the blue “update” button in Reminders one by one. I then plugged them in to their chargers, left them near the router, connected them to the 5GHz WiFi network, and went to sleep. When I woke up, my 100+ scheduled Reminders were all gone and only 20ish remained.
I went to the Reminders webapp iCloud.com, and the same was true there. However, strangely, the number of Reminders was different on each device. Some devices had different Reminders than others. When I try adding a Reminder on one device, they do not appear on other devices.
I did all of the “correct” things: I rebooted, signed in and out of iCloud, made sure time and date were set properly, etc. After around 2.5 hours on the phone with Apple, the nice Genius told me that she would have to report this to engineers and that I should hear back on Tuesday of next week.
I wouldn’t have a problem if my Reminders were 100% gone and I had to start from scratch. (I took screenshots of all of my Reminders before updating.) However, they seem to be in some odd iCloud-related purgatory.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any fixes? (I know it’s unlikely that anyone would have a fix that the Geniuses wouldn’t know of, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask.)
