iOS 13.2.2 update finally fixes bug with playing 4K HDR10 content with AirPlay 2 TVs
I created this thread not so long ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/dqefrc/dolby_vision_but_not_hdr10_with_airplay_2_bug_or/
Issue in short was that playing any movies from my Apple TV library over native AirPlay 2 on my LG C9 OLED TV was bugged when movies were mastered in HDR10 and not Dolby Vision.
4K Dolby Vision content played just fine, but trying to play 4K HDR10 over AirPlay 2 would result in TV showing only 1080p SDR picture.
Got today new iOS 13.2.2 update and tried it again, since it didn’t have any patch notes.
Well, now everything works fine and AirPlay 2 on my LG OLED properly plays 4K HDR10 in movies that it was displaying as 1080p SDR before.
So far tried Alien, Deadpool and Martian, all work great when before they didn’t. A bit weird that Apple didn’t mention it in their patch notes, which only says there are security fixes.
Edit: Apple TV+ still broken over AirPlay 2, but at least 4K HDR10 movies are fixed.
