New iPhone 11 Pro Max & Apple Newbie
I’m happy to join the apple family with my new 11 Pro Max, switching from a Pixel 2 XL and a long journey of different Android phones. In the last 10 years which I am using smartphones there were always something holding me back from iPhone, whether it was my small budget as a student or later the fun playing & coding ROMs leading to the love for stock Android which held me with Pixel phones since they launched the first. With Pixel 4 I feel like Google has exhausted the possibilities of fucking it up in the hardware game and decided to try something completely new.
Meanwhile I think with the 11 Pro, especially the Pro Max, Apple has finally and uniquely (at least for now) put all the right pieces together and I had to take the chance:
great battery, killer performance, clean & smooth software being always up-to-date, a miraculous build quality & design (this green color) and let’s not forget those cameras.
Of course there were some points missing from my ‘perfect phone’s list, most prominently USB-C, but it is pretty much as close as it gets for my taste.
First I tried the standard 11, but I couldnt stand the LCD panel and the camera lacked some essential features for me (I like telephoto portraits). I decided to take the plunge and ordered an 11 Pro Max just out of curiosity, if it can fix the critical points I had. And oh boy, it does. The build quality of this phone is phenomenal.
I really like the experience so far and feel like iOS and stock Android are actually not that far away from each other anymore, iOS being a lot smoother and prettier, but Android having the customization benefit and things like widgets. After all I don’t miss my Pixel and enjoy every day with my Pro Max.
After my switching confession, I have to ask for some ‘pro user’ tips. I work in IT business and am used to learning to handle technical devices quickly, but I’m sure there are some quirks which you learn with years of usage. Feel free to help me out with anything from useful apps to shortcuts or non-obvious settings or just discuss about my switching experience. 🙂
