Why are people making a big deal out of the 2020 iPhone?

I’ve heard many people will hold out for the next iPhone where ‘everything’ will be different supposedly, a view pushed by reviewers as big as MKBHD. However, based on the rumours, I dont think it is that big of a difference. Sure, a new design is cool, but the novelty factor wears off in a week or two. Same can be said of a high refresh rate screen. But the new features for the 11 Pro, more battery (probably the most important for a lot of people) and an ultra wide lens are things you will use every day and bring massive changes in your use of the device. I would argue the jump from XS to 11 Pro is bigger than the one we are seemingly going to get next year.
So please, can someone explain why the design seems to trump such important features like battery and camera in people’s minds. This is from someone who is going to upgrade from an iPhone 7 to 11 Pro, but is discouraged by everyone he asks.
