An average user’s experience with AirPods Pro
I picked up a set of new AirPods Pro 12 days ago. I’ve never had AirPods and I’m not an audiophile. I’ve been using a cheap pair of over the ear Bluetooth earphones from Anker, I think, for the last few years.
My usage: walking the dog, going to the gym, transit (bus/train) to/from work. I also have a cheap pair of Cowin noise canceling over the ears for air travel.
Walking the dog: work great. Especially that that work under a hat, and important aspect*.
Gym: worked great. Didn’t fall out. No comment yet on sweaty-proofness*. Did a good job of eliminating ambient gym noise.
Transit: totally eliminates the noisy roar of the bus, especially when the heater is blowing* and I’m sitting adjacent to it. Rather impressive.
Air travel: this is actually the primary reason I wanted to try them. I read the reviews and if they work well enough to reduce the size of what I carry on, then WIN. They worked great on a short commuter flight.
I returned them today within the 14 day policy. I’m on the bus right now and I have tasted the fruit of the forbidden ANC tree. This is a noisy mess and listening to a podcast on my cheapo BT earphones is impossible.
In truth, I had a pair on order from Costco but they’re back ordered. I have a longer flight in two days. I think I might be heading to an Apple store this evening to get a new pair.
Conclusion: works great. Sounds great. Integrated into apple device ecosystem.
