Help with Parental Controls Customization
Other than setting screen time from 12:00am-11:59pm and constantly having to turn on and off screen time when I need to do something on my kid’s iPad, how do I have certain apps always require a passcode? Better yet, is there a way to remove unallowed apps from sight so they aren’t a temptation and possibly a source of frustration? It’s her iPad, so I want what apps are visibly offered to be open to her, with the apps she isn’t allowed to access, tucked out of sight behind a passcode wall.
I am not interested in automating actual “screen time”. I get that “screen time” is the category that many of the settings are under, but she may be allowed on her iPad more or less depending on the day and setting and adjusting automated limits is more of a hassle than a help. I can just give her the iPad or not depending on how much I want her to use it, no clever digital babysitter needed.
As I’m sure what I’m asking for isn’t actually an option (though they offer apps that are always open, I don’t see why it’d be more difficult to offer ones that are always locked), what are my second best options to achieve my goals and that cause the least amount of hassle in switching the options on and off for when I use it and she uses it?
I’m particularly having a hard time figuring out how to keep her from getting into settings. I have not put it in the allowed category, but somehow it is still accessable. I’ve tried moving it to a folder, but I can’t move it off the quick access bar.
I’ve also found that if I turn screen time off and then on again, it loses my settings. Any way to prevent this so that I can toggle my preferred settings on and off?
