Walk me through some hypothetical situations? (Stolen not-locked phone)
Hello! Hoping to pick your brains so I know how deeply I need to scrub my accounts.
My phone was stolen from my hand today. It’s an iphone 11 and, unfortunately, there seems to be an issue where the auto-lock doesn’t engage while you’re moving (my auto-lock is set for 1 minute but I’ve noticed that if the phone is in my pocket I could take it out 20 minute later it’s still unlocked).
By the time I got to my icloud account 20 minutes later the phone was already offline. I disabled my SIM an hour after that.
Assuming that the thief put it into Airplane mode and didn’t turn it off, can I assume that he has time to diligently sort through my email / photos accounts? Or does an unlocked phone just mean he’ll have an easier time wiping it and re-selling it? (I’m not super concerned about getting the device back – more the data and identity theft issues).
The phone was brand new (3 days) so I hadn’t set up anything else yet. Just restored from a backup (so it has emails and photos on it but that’s about it).
