How anyone figured out how to use autofill (logins, passwords) with a smart/hardware keyboard and the shortcuts bar turned OFF?
This has been frustrating me for way too long (at least since the last generation Pros) and I always figured it was a minor oversight that would eventually get fixed. But maybe I’m missing something obvious. I’ve only found one or two mentions of this online but no solutions yet.
I turn the shortcuts bar off because it’s completely useless if you’re using your iPad+keyboard like a laptop. Most of the time, it’s just an ever-present and ugly bar that shows shortcuts for copy, paste, and undo.
The only time it’s useful is when it displays your keychain or autofill options. Of course, you’d think that these options can appear when it’s necessary — even with the shortcuts bar is off — but alas, that’s not always the case.
Sometimes I’ve gotten autofill options to show just by tapping login fields, tabbing between them, entering some text, and toggling the “globe” keyboard key to bring up your keyboard options. This USED to bring up some autofill options, albeit extremely unreliably.
Lately, I haven’t been able to get this to work at all.
Why can’t I just hit the globe key and bring up all autofill options? Why can’t I bring up the shortcuts bar with a keyboard shortcut? Please tell me I’m missing something obvious. Because I refuse to believe that Apple doesn’t imagine people using the iPad with the shortcuts bar turned off and then wanting to log into websites.
