Has anyone replaced/fixed their iphone 7 audio IC (AKA loop disease) chip themselves?
I have an iphone 7 with loop disease. I want to fix it but the cost of paying someone or replacing the entire logic board doesn’t make sense in relation to the cost of the phone. That said, I’ve looked at how to fix the audio IC issue and it doesn’t seem hard but then again, I don’t have the tools nor have I ever done any kind of micro-soldering. I’m pretty handy so I’m confident that I could make a decent try at it, but is it worth trying? Like I said, I don’t have the tools except the ones to open the phone. Anyone been in a similar position and successfully fixed their phone? Or should I just give up and buy another phone?
Also, I haven’t called apple about this issue either because the phone is out of warranty and they always charge more to repair than independent shops.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks guys.
