Tips for someone planning to buy an iPad pro (2nd hand)
I found a good deal on an iPad pro (11”, 3rd gen, wifi only) but I am fairly new to apple products and not very knowleagable about the details, so I thought I would ask for some advice.
The iPad looks like new, but are there any tips for someone planning to buy a previously owned iPad, second hand? Is there some way that I could be locked out of the device? Is there something I should be doing to the iPad while the original owner is there so that I don’t get stuck if it asks me for like an old apple ID password on restoring it to factory settings? Its a wifi only version.
Should I check if its registered through apple care +? How would I even do that? Couldn’t they give me the iPad and claim it was stolen? How could I avoid this scenario?
Thanks in advance for your help.
*Update: I met up with the guy and it was factory reset upon arrival but i noticed that the ipad had signal and said “LTE” on the top right side. I asked him if it would be okay if I could log into my Apple ID and play around but he didn’t allow me to. He said he had to go back to work and didnt have time and he said he was worried that once I logged in that he would be unable to use the iPad himself if I didnt buy (even though I assured him that I would buy it 100% if everything seemed okay, or that I would reset it again). Although after I left he called me, wanted me to come back, and told me that he would be willing to let me play around with it after he got off work.
He then tried to log into his apple ID but then he got some kind of activation message that was preventing him from moving forward after the welcome screen. I was worried that the phone was already activated on someone elses cellular plan and so I ended up not buying it. Was it an attempted scam?
Honestly the guy didnt look very clean either (he had a ton of dandruff in his hair, so this also turned me off on it).
