iPad as laptop replacement, who here has done it?
Who here has done this? I am thinking about more and more about just leaving the MacBook Pro at home, and pretty much relegating it to “desktop duty”, and pretty much only using the iPad when I am out and about. Most of my work involve remote work into client PCs to diagnose, fix, and repair. Think Helpdesk type jobs. I have used the remote app that our work requires on an iPad and so far it can work very well. I own an Apple Pencil as well. So being able to tap directly on customer computer screens with an Apple Pencil is a huge plus. It will be even better I’m sure when the new iPad OS comes out with mouse support.
I plan on purchasing the smart keyboard because there are a lot of times where I just prefer to type on a regular keyboard. I think I can get by with typing on this type of keyboard and not worry about missing a beat.
Who else does something like this while working off of an iPad? Do you recommend it? How many here hook up an external monitor and how does this affect your work flow?
I guess as a backup, I could always use Luma display or something like that and use it with a full blown Mac if I needed to, and just use the iPad as a monitor. I am thinking about such a setup.
