Apple support woes, and my experience.
So, i’ve been having a weird problem with my
iPhone X for the past few months now, but I haven’t been able to take it into apple support due to complications (car accident, couldn’t walk and had to go to rehab). Basically, on almost every WiFi network that isn’t extremely strong/high end, it won’t hold a consistent connection on, and it’ll kick me off, sometimes it won’t even see/be able to join the network. On really cheap routers, the phone will drop signal if I cover the back of it with my hand. This detail is important later on. A week ago I finally was able to go in. I talked on chat support with someone that was pretty helpful and understanding, they said yeah thats an extremely weird issue, they’ll probably be replacing your phone. I went in to the Apple store, and long story short, they said they won’t replace my phone because they can’t recreate the issue in store. Obviously not, given how expensive and high end apples WiFi setup is in store. I asked if I could record my phone dropping WiFi at home, or screen record it to prove it and they gave me a firm no, it has to do the issue in store for them to be able to replace it. I’ve done every troubleshooting step, restored my phone clean and from a backup, bought a new case, a new WiFi router, tried 9 different networks, nothing has fixed this. Its extremely frustrating, it happens especially often when I watch YouTube, which sucks because watching 1080p videos chews through data like no other. What are my options? It feels pretty shitty that I spent $1200 on a phone that broke in under a year, just for them to say piss off.
