Well, I guess I made the leap to Apple.
So, I’ve almost always been an Android guy, but I’ve been flirting with Apple for about a year now. It started with an iPad Pro that I leased in February to take notes for work. It was fantastic.
I lease my phones from T-Mobile, so I turned in my Galaxy S9+ and got an iPhone X in May to compliment the iPad. Around the same time, I got an Apple Watch Series 1 for myself and my wife.
But I found the iPhone X to be too small, but I loved the OLED screen. I returned it and went back to the S9+ and returned the Apple Watch.
At the time, these were my main concerns:
1. Siri is just not good.
2. Apple Maps for CarPlay is just not good.
3. Password management between iOS and Windows is bad.
4. Notifications are bad.
So, some time passes. In August, I start a new job, and it’s made pretty clear that IT only wants people to have iPhones. So I get another iPhone X. I get into the iOS 12 beta. Oh hey, almost all of the issues from above are fixed/will be fixed. Siri is still bad, but that’s okay I suppose.
But then I run back into the issue of password management. I don’t like 1Password or LastPass, but I don’t have a Mac, so I can’t use iCloud Keychain. It’s so frustrating that I return the phone and get a Note 9.
Then I missed my Apple Watch a lot, so I order a Galaxy Watch. It’s just… not good at all. It does a lot of stuff 75% well. And for some reason having it connected just killed my Note 9 battery life. Back to the drawing board.
I decided to take the leap. Today, I ordered:
1. iPhone Xs Max
3. Apple Watch Series 4
4. A used MacBook Pro 2015 (Swappa)
The MacBook is going to be my main computer. I even sold my Surface Book that I had and made a little extra cash on the side.
Now, I just gotta wait for AirPower to get here and my Apple life will be complete!
