Mother in nursing home – someone blacked out her iPhone – help!
My mother is in a nursing home. She had an iPhone 4 that was stolen from her. Her cellphone account is through ATT under my uncle’s name. My uncle took an iPhone 6 (X or plus?) that he had and gave it to my mother. He had initially turned off her phoneline, when he turned it back on with the new phone and was setting up the phone, the phone received a text directed to the thief and stating his name. My uncle went to the nursing home to share this text.
However, nothing has been done. The thief entered my mother’s room and asked to see her new phone. He messed with it. After he handed it back, the screen was black and could not be turned on. We’re assuming he did this so that evidence can’t be accessed or just to be an ass. I just spoke to my uncle and he has the new phone. He plans to take it to an ATT store tomorrow, but it would be nice if I could save him the drive. Especially since the nursing home is 30 minutes west of his house and the ATT store is 30 minutes east. (I live 3 hours away.)
I found the following video on youtube – [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQazxgcSviQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQazxgcSviQ) – but I’m not sure if this will solve a problem with a phone that has been deliberately tampered with.
Any advice would be appreciated.
This worse part is that one week before the guy stole the phone we got the “this is the beginning of the end” talk. She’s been in the same nursing home for a year. If this guy had held onto his horses for a month or so, she probably wouldn’t be able to communicate anymore and her phone wouldn’t even matter to us. Every day that she doesn’t have that phone is one of her last days on earth. One of my last chances to talk to her.
